Sidewalk Sale

Local downtowns were transformed into outdoor shopping areas for three days last week for annual sidewalk sales.

Le Gourmet Factory’s Cooking School and Kitchen Incubator have been in Englewood for more than a year.

“We are looking to become the ultimate foodie destination,” said Nick Prastos, the Factory’s owner. The school offers classes for both adults and children taught by professional chefs who help people “practice what they love,” said Prastos.

Gus Nations of Teaneck saves carrot peels. And garlic peels. And onion peels. Not for a compost pile, but for his homemade stocks.

“I’m spending literally zero,” said Nations, a chef at Le Gourmet Factory Cooking School in Englewood. “I’m getting a natural, no-preservative, no-junk product that otherwise would have ended up as garbage-can filler.”
